This is significant because there is reason to believe that childhood socialization sets limits to what may be accomplished through adult socialization (Elkin & Handel, 1978). There's an entire chapter on social skill development. School Counselors recognize the interconnectedness of the comprehensive school counseling program with academic content areas/disciplines.
